We welcome YOU with open arms... no matter who or where you are on life's journey.  We are an inclusive community, open and affirming of ALL people. We are always looking for open-minded, community-focused and social justice oriented individuals who want to become disciples of Jesus Christ committed to transforming lives through acts of  love.

Our Vision
The vision of Journeys is to journey together as a community of faith to proclaim Christ's ministry of inclusion, healing and reconciliation in the world, through acts of love

Our Mission
The mission of Journeys is to reflect an authentic "lived faith" that witnesses to the gospel message in ways that invite others into a journey toward God, with Jesus Christ. (Luke 24: 13-35)

Re-Discover God, find hope, find acceptance ... at last!

Our Pastor

The Reverend Monica Dawkins-Smith holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati, a Master of Divinity from Lancaster Theological Seminary and is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. She is a 2010 graduate of Leadership Harrisburg Area and, as a continual learner, is currently enrolled in a Doctor of Ministry program at Lancaster Theological Seminary.

Rev. Dawkins-Smith served as an Associate Pastor of Evangelism and Discipleship at Harold O Davis Baptist/UCC church in Philadelphia before coming to serve as the new church start pastor at Journeys UCC in July 2008.

Prior to a vocation in ministry, Rev. Dawkins-Smith had extensive experience in various professional management roles across several industries, including pharmaceutical, manufacturing, non-profits and banking. Currently she is bi-vocational, serving 2 faith communities: Journeys UCC (Penbrook) and Salem UCC (downtown Harrisburg).

Most of her ministry happens in public settings - outside the walls of the church - via conference speaking engagements and service in the community.  She started Manna Food Pantry, a client-choice pantry, in response to the growing need for what she envisions as a holistic approach to caring for our most vulnerable neighbors.

Rev. Monica Dawkins-Smith is very active in her community. Currently she serves on the Dauphin County Diversity Advisory Committee, and has a passion for issues related to diversity. Rev. Dawkins-Smith also serves on the Central PA Food Bank Agency Relations Committee and provides leadership for an Anti-Bullying Initiative in the Harrisburg School District. As Vice President of the Board of Christian Churches United, Rev. Dawkins-Smith provides oversight for all its ecumenical ministries.

Former Board participation includes: Dauphin County Children and Youth Advisory Board, Lancaster Theological Seminary Alumni Council (Executive Council).
